Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology is a state-owned college of health that is located in Aba, Abia State.

Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology has a long history of existence, and this can be traced back to 1949, when the institution was first established as the School of Hygiene by the British colonial government before Nigeria attained independence.

Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology’s ownership and control upon independence were transferred to the Eastern Region of Nigeria and then later to Imo State, which later was handed over to the Abia State government following the creation of the state from Imo State.

Following Nigeria’s independence, the college was upgraded to a school of health in 1976. In 2009 under the administration of Theodore Orji, the institution was upgraded from the School of Health to the Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology to widen its academic discipline.

Under the administration of Governor Theodore Orji, who made efforts to see that the institution offered quality and was also accredited, the governing board chairman was appointed in the person of Dr. Okoezie Ikpeazu, who later became the governor of Abia State, and it was under his tenure that the institution was able to gain accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology is accredited by NBTE and offers ND and HND courses, and its graduates can also go for the 1-year mandatory NYSC program for university and polytechnic graduates in Nigeria.
