Full List of Accredited Colleges of Nursing Sciences in Nigeria (2026)

Nursing is a beautiful course to study in Nigeria despite the economic turndown. The course offers high job opportunities immediately after graduation, more demand in and outside the country, and better salary prospects if they climb to a higher level in their careers.

When many students want to study nursing in Nigeria, the problem lies in the number of universities that want to admit this high number of students, already constrained by accreditation status and quota. There are few students that universities can admit, and that is where colleges of nursing come in; they have been filling the vacuum that has been left open by the universities, ensuring a supply of nurses that are still serving the country’s health sector.

What Is an Accredited College of Nursing?

Accredited College of Nursing is a college that is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN); this college is meant to offer a nursing program only.

Unlike School of Nursing, College of Nursing offer National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Certificate while School of Nurse does not offer such certificate but rather they still offer Registered Nurse Certificate which is the common certificate between School of Nursing and College of Nursing.

Just like universities, colleges of nursing also require JAMB, and they also have a prescribed JAMB cutoff mark that is prescribed by the board, but their cutoff mark is usually less than the cutoff mark that is demanded by universities.

The College of Nursing does not automatically put you in the same rank as nurses that graduate from university; they will have a higher salary and higher rank than you, but based on experience, it is better you start at the College of Nursing and then upgrade by attending university through direct entry using the registered nurse certificate rather than wasting your years doing nothing at all, and the best part is you can still earn a decent salary as a registered nurse.

When I have emphasized the reason you should attend the College of Nursing, it is important that you attend a College of Nursing Science that is fully accredited, or this might lead to a waste of time, and that is why we will show the full list of accredited Colleges of Nursing in Nigeria categorized by private, state, and federal universities.
