Adeyemi College of Education, now known as Adeyemi University of Education, is a popular federal university that is located in Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria. The institution was established in 1964, making it one of the oldest public higher learning institutions in Nigeria.
Adeyemi College of Education was initially set up in 1963 and kicked off operation in 1964 with over 100 students initially.
Adeyemi College of Education was set up to organize academic and professional teaching courses for training qualified Nigerian teachers who will teach in primary education and at the university level.
Adeyemi College of Education’s transition from college of education was skeptical and full of rough sketches. It started in 2015 when the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, approved the transition, but it was denied under the administration of President Muhammad Buhari but initially passed under the same administration.
Adeyemi College of Education was classified as one of the best colleges of education across Nigeria and even across the whole of West Africa before its transition to the University of Education. It should be noted that the Adeyemi University of Education was made up of different colleges of education when it was set up.
It should be noted that the Adeyemi College of Education had an affiliation with Obafemi Awolowo University to offer degree courses before the college was upgraded to university status, and the college till today still maintains affiliation with the institution.
