Nassarawa State University was established in 2001 based on the decree by the state house of assembly of Nassarawa state. The University was established in the clear view of promoting education in Nassarawa state and promoting literacy rate in the institution.

Nassarawa State University Postgraduate Admission Requirements

General Requirements

Candidates seeking postgraduate admission into Nasarawa State University, Keffi must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of five (5) O’level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE in not more than two sittings.
• Applicants must present their NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
• All candidates must provide relevant academic certificates and credentials during registration.

Programme-Specific Requirements

● Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

To qualify for PGD admission, candidates must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Third Class) from Nasarawa State University or any recognized university.
• Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least Lower Credit from a recognized institution.
• Candidates with other relevant qualifications and professional experience may also be considered.
• Five O’level credits including English and Mathematics.

● Master’s Degree (MSc, MA, MEd, etc.)

Applicants for Master’s programmes must possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper or Lower Division) from a recognized university.
• Candidates with a Third Class degree plus a PGD in a related field may also be eligible.
• HND holders with a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant discipline may be considered.
• NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

● Master of Philosophy (MPhil) / Research Degrees

Admission into MPhil programmes requires:

• A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division from a recognized university.
• Candidates with a Master’s degree in professional courses may also qualify.
• Applicants whose Master’s degree is not directly related to the proposed field of study may still be considered.
• Submission of official academic transcripts sent directly to the university.
• NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

●Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Candidates seeking admission into PhD programmes must have:

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
• A minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale or its equivalent.
