Auchi Polytechnic is a well-renowned federal polytechnic that is located in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government of Edo State. It is one of the four first established polyethnic groups in Nigeria.

Auchi Polytechnic was established in 1963, 3 years after Nigeria’s independence, as a technical college with the aim of producing skilled workers who will help in building the nation’s economy.

The law that established Auchi Polytechnic in 1963 was assigning the Polytechnic the responsibility and task of producing well-trained and highly skilled middle-level manpower for the national economy in fields like engineering, technology, management studies, and a lot more.

Auchi Polytechnic operated as a technical college for many years and was supervised under the control of an administrative officer known as Principal until 1973, which was 10 years apart, when the institution was upgraded to the full status of a polytechnic under the old Bendel State government. The Polytechnic Administration and control was handed to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Polytechnic, based on its manifestos and memo, is reviewing and updating its curriculum to meet and tackle national and global problems. The institution looks forward to the future with the confidence that it will consolidate its primus status amongst its peers.

The Polytechnic is a large polytechnic with a large number of students, over 8,000 students who are currently studying in the institution through the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Admission Requirement

ND Admission Requirements

• Candidates must have taken the UTME and obtained at least the minimum JAMB score prescribed for admission.

• Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in one sitting or six (6) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

• The required O’Level qualifications must include English Language and Mathematics.

• Acceptable examination bodies include SSCE, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB.

• Candidates who selected Auchi Polytechnic as their second-choice institution must change to Auchi Polytechnic as their first choice before admission can be considered.

HND Admission Requirements

• Candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) from a recognized polytechnic or equivalent institution accredited by NBTE.

• Candidates must have a minimum of Lower Credit in the ND program.

• Candidates must satisfy the matriculation requirements for the corresponding ND program.

• Candidates must have at least one (1) year of relevant post-ND industrial experience.

• Academic transcripts from the candidate’s previous institution must be submitted.

• Candidates with a pass grade in ND may be considered if they have at least two (2) years of relevant industrial experience.

• Applicants for Office Technology and Management may be given preference if they possess good grades in shorthand, typewriting, and computer-related subjects.

Post-HND Admission Requirements

• Candidates must possess a minimum of Lower Credit in the relevant HND program from Auchi Polytechnic or any other NBTE-accredited institution.

• Candidates must possess an equivalent recognized qualification where applicable.

• Candidates must have successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.

Auchi Polytechnic Hostel Fee

Hostel accommodation is available in Auchi Polytechnic for all students, but it is not sufficient for all; hence, it is subject to first-come, first-served allocation.

For hostel allocation in the institution, students are mandated by the school authority to be cleared by the student affairs.

Hostel fees can’t be generalized in Auchi Polytechnic, as some pay higher while some pay lower fees based on the room type, bed space, and hostel, but based on the general average, hostel fees range from ₦20,000 to ₦60,000 per session in the institution.
